Haircuts for the Homeless Just the Remedy for Melbourne’s Winter Chill
Working in Brother Wolf, the upmarket barber shop in Greville Street, Prahran, Nasir Sobhani gives professional footballers, basketballers and DJs cuts and shaves for up to $80 each.
On Sunday, 20 lucky customers enjoyed Mr Sobhani’s services for free, at a special mid-winter event helping the homeless.
As rain fell and a chill wind blew outside, the Drill Hall in Therry Street, near Queen Victoria Market, glowed with goodwill for Christmas on the Streets.
COTS founder Roseanne Rofaeel, 20, a university student, marshalled about 100 volunteers to cut hair, offer manicures, serve food, run games and hand out donated clothing to about 100 disadvantaged people.
